Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC)
President
Founded in 2013, the Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC) is one of Canada’s leading youth-led nonprofit organizations dedicated to piano performance, music education, and community engagement. It brings together young musicians, piano educators, and emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, creating opportunities for students to grow through performance, collaboration, and service.
I joined VYPC in 2014 at the age of five, and it has been an important part of my musical and personal journey ever since. Over more than a decade, I have grown from a young performer into a student leader, serving as Director of Communications in 2023, Vice President in 2024, and now President.
In these roles, I have helped coordinate concerts and community events, lead communications and marketing, strengthen community partnerships, expand outreach initiatives, and create opportunities for young musicians to perform and connect through music.
VYPC has given me far more than opportunities to perform. It has taught me how to lead a team, communicate ideas, collaborate across generations, and use music as a way to serve my community.
What began with me simply sitting at a piano has grown into a journey of music, leadership, and community impact—a journey that continues to shape who I am as both a musician and a student.
Leading Through Music
I currently serve as President of the Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC), where I lead communications, marketing, event planning, and community engagement initiatives.
Through VYPC, I help create performance opportunities for young musicians while building connections between music, education, and community service. I have also contributed to fundraising efforts that have generated more than $120,000 for charitable causes, including major hospitals and healthcare organizations across Metro Vancouver.
For me, leadership is not simply about holding a title. It is about bringing people together, creating opportunities for others, and turning a shared passion for music into something that can benefit the wider community.
Music Beyond the Stage
For the past 12 years, I have been part of the Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC), participating in and helping organize more than 120 charity and community benefit concerts.
Through VYPC’s outreach programs, I regularly perform alongside fellow young musicians at senior care homes throughout Metro Vancouver, sharing music with residents aged 80 and above. During holidays such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, we bring special performances and thoughtful gifts to residents, creating moments of joy, connection, and companionship.
Over the years, I have learned that performing is not simply about being on stage or receiving applause. Sometimes, the most meaningful performance is the one that makes someone smile, brings back a cherished memory, or simply makes them feel less alone.
These experiences have shaped the way I see music. Music is not only something I perform—it is something I can use to connect with people, serve my community, and make a difference in someone else’s day.
