Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC)
Founded in 2013, the Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC) is one of Canada's leading youth-led nonprofit organizations dedicated to piano performance, music education, and community engagement. Bringing together accomplished young musicians, distinguished piano educators, and emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, VYPC provides a platform for students to develop both artistic excellence and leadership through performance.
Leon Xiang joined VYPC in 2014 at the age of five. Over more than a decade of involvement, he has grown from a young performer into a dedicated student leader. He served as Director of Communications in 2023, Vice President in 2024, and currently serves as President. In these leadership roles, Leon has helped coordinate concerts, strengthen community partnerships, expand outreach initiatives, and support opportunities for young musicians to perform and connect through music.
His journey with VYPC reflects a longstanding commitment to artistic excellence, leadership development, and meaningful community engagement—values that continue to shape both his musical and academic pursuits.

Leon currently serves as President of the VYPC, where he leads communications, marketing, event planning, and community engagement initiatives. Through his leadership, VYPC provides performance opportunities for young musicians while fostering connections between music, education, and community service. Over the years, Leon has contributed to fundraising efforts that have generated more than $120,000 in support of charitable causes, including major hospitals and healthcare organizations across Metro Vancouver.

Over his 12 years with the Vancouver Young Pianist Club (VYPC), Leon has participated in and helped organize more than 120 charity and community benefit concerts. Through VYPC's outreach programs, he regularly performs alongside fellow members at senior care homes throughout Metro Vancouver, sharing music with residents aged 80 and above.
During major holidays—including Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas—Leon and his fellow young musicians present special performances and deliver thoughtful gifts to residents, using music to foster connection, joy, and companionship. These experiences have reinforced his belief that music is not only a form of artistic expression, but also a powerful way to serve and uplift the community.
